HollyBank Eccup 10 Mile
28th June 2020 – 9.30am
It is with immense regret that Abbey Runners have decided to cancel this year’s Hollybank Eccup 10 mile race. It will not be rescheduled for later in the year. Whilst it is possible (but unlikely) that races may be able to go ahead again by the end of June, the club is unable to take the financial risks associated with holding on and hoping for the best. T-shirts would have to be ordered, road closures and traffic management paid for, toilets hired, etc, etc. Furthermore, we have to consider the feelings of local residents (on whose goodwill we rely) on the prospect of 1,000 runners gathering in the area so soon after this crisis.
We fully intend to hold our race in 2021, and have a provisional race date for the event: Sunday 27th June. This date is subject to alteration, dependent on various factors. We should be able to confirm this date by January 2021 at the latest.
Everyone who has already entered automatically has a place in the race on the new date. So your choices are:
1. If you can race on 27th June 2021 then you don’t need to do anything, you don’t need to tell us. Your place is secured and we look forward to seeing you next year. We would prefer that you choose this option if you possibly can as it will help us to ensure the race is staged again next year.
2. If you can’t race on 27th June 2021, you can claim a refund. Send an email to email@example.com
with the subject line HOLLYBANK ECCUP 10 REFUND. Please note that refunds are subject to a processing charge of £2, which will be deducted from your entry fee. Refunds are being prioritised by race date; so the later the (cancelled) race date, the longer you may need to wait. RaceBest will not confirm each request individually. Only get back in touch if you haven’t received your refund by 28th June.
I hope that you are able to stick with us and race on 27th June 2021. In the meantime, look after yourself and your loved ones, and stay safe.
This year our chosen charities are Simon on the Streets and Hollybank Trust
Now in its 28th year, the Eccup 10 is happy to support the Hollybank Trust.
Abbey Runners will also be making a donation to our charity of the year Simon on the Streets, who are an independent charity that offers support to our homeless community, primarily entrenched rough sleepers. They work in West Yorkshire, in particular, Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield.. You can also support either or both of our charities, by making an additional donation with your entry at Racebest.
Thank you to our supporters below, without whose help the race would not be possible
