You’ve arrived at the online home of Abbey Runners, the north Leeds club for runners of all abilities and all ages. Abbey Runners has something for every runner: our members take part in road running, cross-country, fell, trail and triathlon.
We meet twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 7:30pm) to run and train in ability-based groups for about an hour. For those new to running we have Beginners groups that meet on Tuesdays (7:30pm). We also have a thriving Juniors Section which meets on a Monday at 6:00pm. We also stage several races each year including the Abbey Dash and the Eccup 10, as well as the Golden Acre Relay, the Anniversary Fell Race and the Rombalds Romp.
So whether you want to get fit or fitter, train hard or train harder, or if you just want a social, friendly run with like-minded people, why not come and try Abbey Runners. For more information, use the Contacts page to get in touch with our Membership Secretary
Peco Cross Country – Races 4 & 5 Reminder
The PecoXC race 4 and race 5 are coming up:
|Sunday 8th February||Peco XC Race 4 Bodington Fields|
|Sunday 1st March||Peco XC Race 5 Roundhay Park|
Abbey Runners have always targeted the Peco’s, and have never been relegated from the Premier Division.
It is therefore important that we get our available runners out to represent the club. Although we are in a relegation position at present, it is still all to play for.
Because we are going through a transitional period, survival in the top division would be a great achievement.
Thanks in advance…
Runner of the Month December 2014
Iain Manfield for his support given to all Abbeys, regardless of speed, at the recent PECO Races. At Pendas Field, half an hour after his finish time Iain was at the bottom of the last hill shouting out great words of encouragement to the last few Abbeys so they could put in a last effort to run to the finish line. This was repeated at Race 2 and 3. Having a ‘fast’ Abbey supporting the final few is much appreciated and makes all feel part of the Abbey Runners team.
