You’ve arrived at the online home of Abbey Runners, the north Leeds club for runners of all abilities and all ages. Abbey Runners has something for every runner: our members take part in road running, cross-country, fell, trail and triathlon.
We meet twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 7:30pm) to run and train in ability-based groups for about an hour. For those new to running we have Beginners groups that meet on Tuesdays (7:30pm). We also have a thriving Juniors Section which meets on a Monday at 6:00pm. We also stage several races each year including the Abbey Dash and the Eccup 10, as well as the Golden Acre Relay, the Anniversary Fell Race and the Rombalds Romp.
So whether you want to get fit or fitter, train hard or train harder, or if you just want a social, friendly run with like-minded people, why not come and try Abbey Runners. For more information, use the Contacts page to get in touch with our Membership Secretary
Abbey Runners Open Evening
24th February – Holt Park Active
Abbey Runners is holding an open evening on Tuesday 24th February at Holt Park Active leisure centre. This will be an opportunity to meet members of the club and find out more about what the club has to offer to both existing and new members. There will be coffee/tea and cake from 6:30 pm onwards in the yellow room at HPA and the opportunity to run with one of our regular running groups at 7:30 pm. Absolutely all abilities welcome from tortoise to hare. As well as our regular groups we are also promoting a new beginners group for those who are new to running.
If you don’t normally come along to training nights on a Tuesday please consider calling in to say hello and maybe you’ll find out a bit more about club activities, the new 2015 Grand Prix competition, the club trip and other social activities. Everyone is welcome. If you know anyone who is thinking that they might want to take up running this is a great opportunity to invite them along to give it a go.
If you want to know any more use our contact form to send an email to our Membership Secretary Lynn
Peco Cross Country – Races 4 & 5 Reminder
The PecoXC race 4 and race 5 are coming up:
|Sunday 8th February||Peco XC Race 4 Bodington Fields|
|Sunday 1st March||Peco XC Race 5 Roundhay Park|
Abbey Runners have always targeted the Peco’s, and have never been relegated from the Premier Division.
It is therefore important that we get our available runners out to represent the club. Although we are in a relegation position at present, it is still all to play for.
Because we are going through a transitional period, survival in the top division would be a great achievement.
Thanks in advance…
Runner of the Month January 2014
