Parkrun 5k – Leeds Temple Newsam Park – 11th October

parkrunAbbey Runners has decided to target a local Parkrun 5k on the second Saturday of every month, rotating around the three main Parkruns in Leeds and then targeting a different one every 4th month.  The aim is to get more Abbey Runners together at these fun, free races.  It is good speed training and also  encourages people that are new to racing to have a go at a 5k!

It would also be good if we can organise car sharing for those that need to drive and nearer the time.

Note that UK Parkruns start at 9:00 am every Saturday (unless communicated otherwise.)

For those unfamiliar with Parkruns:

“Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and we encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; we welcome you all….”

You will need to register and print off a copy of your personal bar code. You results will then be maintained online for you whichever runs you do (even internationally!). Please note that Parkrun is run by volunteers and all adult participants are requested to help out 3 times per year in return for these free races – it is only about an hour of your time.”
