Leeds Country Way relay – more info from Peter Leach
The Leeds Country Way Relay Race is a 64 mile circular relay race which uses the series of footpaths, bridle paths and roads around the actual Leeds Country Way route.
Each team has 6 pairs of runners and each pair run a leg (section) around the actual Leeds Country Way route, handing over the baton to the next pair when they’ve both completed their leg.
The race starts and finishes in Garforth with Leg 1 beginning at 08:00am and Leg 6 returning to Garforth some hours later.
This year Abbey Runners hope to have 4 teams of 12 runners, so now it is time to recce and learn the legs, as runners have got lost in the past!
Even if you are not competing this year it is worth joining a recce group and enjoy some countryside runs around Leeds.
Kippax Harriers organise the race and all the race and leg details are on their website at Kippax Harriers Leeds Country Way
N.B. Please can you confirm to your club captains if you would like to run LCW relay by Friday 16 May at the latest so that we can get our teams entered in good time and avoid disappointment later
