This is a quality event, and ranks as one of my favourite races in the running calendar. Pretty flat 10 mile road race, well organised and…well… just a great course.
This was my fifth Snake Lane, and for the first time it was chipped. It felt much busier at the starting line and checking the results there were 752 finishers in 2013 compared to 695 the previous year.
I felt strong for the first six or seven miles, but the last two miles were tough. There was a cold, biting wind and I was glad I wrapped up warm! Managed to catch up both Jim P and Sharon W but wasn’t able to get to Mark H (running well for Wardy).
I was only two seconds off my 10 mile PB but serves me right for not knowing what my PB actually was until I got home and checked. I don’t mind though. Feel really pleased with my time and know I can come back next year and have another crack at it.
Well done to the other Abbeys on their times. (John Halliwell always seems to do well on this I’ve noticed!)
