Whilst the Abbey ‘ roadies’ headed East to Pocklington for their race, the mountain goats went North-West -ish for their fell running fix.

I’ll certainly go along with that. Today was the 10th time I have competed in this race and I will admit the descent down the so called ‘ Rocky Valley ‘ still scares me slightly. One stumble in the wrong place on this race and you end up a rather bloodied mess. Fortunately my little stumble today only resulted in falling against a tree and a few bramble bushes !
Race winner was Tom Adams from the host club in 35.54, first lady was British International, Emma Clayton from Bingley in 42.03 ,a ladies course record. I took my UKA coaching course with Emma, I did remind her that her great running form has not rubbed off on me yet !
Conditions were quite good this year, a few icy bits on the tops and the usual muddy bottleneck near the start.
